Charter admissions criteria opposed - NOLA.com
I so rarely hear anyone criticize charter schools with selective admission. The reason why people love the charter schools here is because they give kids who are behind a better chance to catch up and go beyond what's expected of them. When schools are selective, the kids who don't pass these tests end up getting sent to public schools some of which are still not in the greatest shape. What are their chances there, if they're already behind? Also, many of the rejected are poor and/or Black, which inevitably will lead to a lawsuit.
